Dr Peter Colenso is an independent consultant working on global education, health and human development.

Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Peter worked for the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and the UK Department for International Development for 11 years. Among other roles, he was Head of Profession – Education and Head of the Human Development Department in DFID’s Policy Division, leading UK government policy on international Education, Health, HIV/AIDS and Nutrition. Peter has also worked as an education specialist for the World Bank and for non-governmental organisations in Africa, Asia and the Balkans. He holds degrees from Oxford University, the London School of Economics & Political Science and Sussex University.

Peter is the Chair of the PEAS Board of Trustees. Peter joined the Board out of admiration for the work PEAS is doing providing excellent secondary education in Africa at low costs, and to support a strategic shift as PEAS seeks to additionally support operators, governments and others to provide high quality low cost secondary education.
